Razor-Sharp Moore Blanks Los
Angeles
Toronto
starter
Earl Moore really did a number on the
Gunslingers today, shutting them out 17-0 on 6 hits
in a complete game victory. He issued no walks and
had 8 strikeouts.
In his postgame comments,
the
Los Angeles manager said, "We didn't have good
at-bats. I don't make excuses, but when we were
playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes
from either extremely good pitching or extremely
lousy hitting... seeing as our team has a bunch of
pretty good hitters, I have to tip my cap to Earl...
he did an outstanding job today."
Friday, September
30th, 2011: Long Beach,
Veteran Hendrix Sign Deal
Media
analysts hailed
Long Beach's signing of
Claude Hendrix, one of Major League Internet
Baseball's brightest stars, as a pivotal move.
While the deal is certain to raise a few
eyebrows,
Hendrix is expected to earn every bit of the
$33,530,000 promised him over 5 years.
This
year
Hendrix has compiled a 12-19 mark with a 4.01
ERA. Thursday, September 29th,
2011: Chamberlain of Queens
Earns NL Batting Crown
Mel
Chamberlain, the 29-year-old shortstop of the
Queens Sky Hawks, is the National batting
champion for 2011. His .385 mark outdistanced all
the other NL hitters and got his name in the record
book.
Chamberlain had quite a year, finishing with 83
RBIs, 119 runs, 51 doubles, 11 triples, and 9 home
runs.

Prieto Hits .400 for Toronto
His
grandfather once told
Iván Prieto he should set high goals for
himself. The
Toronto first baseman has done that throughout
his baseball life, beginning as a youngster.
"I hit something like .650 one season when I was a
kid," he recalled. "Still, I thought I could have
done better."
Now, Prieto has done what few
before him have accomplished in Major League
Internet Baseball: He has become a .400 hitter for a
single season. Reflecting on his phenomenal year,
with a sly grin, Prieto said, "I think I could have
gotten a few more hits."
The Bloodhounds
star, who finished at .400, collected 236 hits
including 35 doubles, 4 triples and 53 home runs. He
also had 199 RBIs and scored 172 runs.
Thursday, September 29th, 2011:
Red Sox Sierra Joins .400
Club
Cristián
Sierra of
Boston has joined a mere handful of men to hit
over .400 for a single season. The 34-year-old
Red Sox left fielder hit .402 in a colossal year
at the plate, rapping out 219 hits, 41 doubles, 1
triple and 8 home runs. Baseball's latest member of
the elite .400 club also drove in 69 runs and scored
95.
"As much as I could, I tried to just
forget about hitting .400 and just focus on each
at-bat and trying to help my club," Sierra told BNN.
"But as you guys know, there is no way to quietly
hit .400." Thursday, September
29th, 2011: MLIB News:
Playoffs begin
The regular season
has given way to heightened anxiety around the
clubhouse as teams with championship aspirations
prepare for the final sprint to the finish line.
It's time for the great players to step up and earn
their fame, for the average players to get a shot at
immortality and for rookies to make a name for
themselves. Some dread it, some relish it. Everyone
who dreams of playing in Major League Internet
Baseball wants to have a once-in-a-lifetime shot at
championship glory. The 2011 Divisional Series kicks
off today with these exciting match-ups:
Los Angeles Gunslingers versus
Toronto Bloodhounds,
Anchorage Freeze versus
South Bend Diamond Jaxx,
Washington Senators versus
Portland Sea Dogs and
Texas Thundering Herd versus
Chicago Dragons. Wednesday,
September 28th, 2011: Hit
Streak Over, Warriors (NL) Stop Zamora
His
21-game hitting streak is over.
John Zamora failed to get a hit today against
the
Stripling Warriors (NL) and had his
consecutive-game hitting streak broken. The
23-year-old Sky Hawks third baseman went 0-for-4 in
his club's 5-3 victory over the
Stripling at Sky Knights Ballpark.
In
2011
Zamora is batting .314 with 117 hits, 22 home
runs, 93 RBIs, 16 walks, .342 OBP and has scored 60

Dragons Wilke to Miss Year
Chicago
third baseman
Jarod Wilke could miss the remainder of the
season because of a hyperextended knee. He exited
yesterday's
Calgary game after injuring himself while
colliding with a player at a base. The original
diagnosis said Wilke would be out 4 weeks. Later on
his doctors said he could be out even longer.
"He's done," his manager commented at the BNN
press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but
it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case
scenario, so we're happy about that."
Currently
Wilke has 35 home runs and a .285 batting
average. |
Monday, August 29th, 2011:
Texas 's Alonso NL Star of the

Hit Parade: Taylor Pops 5 Hits
Willie
Taylor exploded for a barrage of base hits today
at The Aquarium. The
Portland center fielder had a field day in the
10-6 triumph over the
Washington Senators, finishing with a 5-5 day
and a spot in the league record book.
"My
hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I
focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a
good pitch."
Well,
Taylor must have focused at least 5 times and
apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of
his best days ever with the bat.
W. Taylor singled in the 1st, singled in the
3rd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the
6th and hit an RBI single in the 7th.
This
season
Taylor is hitting .370 with 15 home runs.

Rosko Strokes 3 HR Against
Louisville
Todd
Rosko of the
South Bend Diamond Jaxx had a lot to celebrate
in today's 7-6 win over the
Louisville Sluggers. Three times he celebrated
by pounding the ball out of Wrigley Field.
He
kiddingly told reporters after the game, "Hopefully,
I can continue to close my eyes and swing as hard as
I can. It worked well today."
The powerful
South Bend second baseman tagged 4 hits in 5
at-bats, drove in 6 runs and scored 4 times in his
three-home-run outburst.
Rosko added, "Seriously, I just try to swing
early and often to give myself a chance. I let the
pitcher supply all the power, I just try to figure
out how to get the bat on the ball."
"We
talked about changing our strategy for the third
one... and then he hit another homer," the
Louisville manager said. "We just couldn't get
him out."

blanking them 5-0 and chalked up 5 strikeouts and no
walks along the way.
"It certainly makes my
job easy," said the
Long Beach skipper. "When my pitcher pitches a
shutout. I can just sit back, watch and enjoy."
